Hockessin is about a 15 or 20 minute drive from downtown Wilmington, about a 10 minute drive to historic Kennett Square, PA and about 10 minutes to Prices Corner Shopping Center or a little futher drive and you're at the Christiana Mall and the Christiana Hospital. Just a short drive to the east is the historic area of Greenville, DE and Centreville, DE. There are lots of great resources in our area!

The village of Hockessin was established in 1688 and has been one of the fastest growing areas in Delaware since 1990. Some historians believe that the town's name was derived from the Lenape Indian word for "pieces of bark" or possibly from a misspelling of the word "occasion" as it was pronounced by the Quakers who were the original settlers here.
The geography is a beautiful landscape of gently rolling hills and woodlands extending into neighboring Chester County, PA. In the past 30 years or so the Hockessin area has transformed from an agricultural base to a very desirable and affluent community. Some of the area amenities include the new Hockessin Athletic Club, the PAL Center, Hockessin Soccer Club and the newly renovated Hockessin Library. Here are some more Hockessin area attractions.

Some other benefits include the Hockessin Fire Company and Memorial Hall, Walk-in Clinic, Montessori School, many boutique shops and some great restaurants - The Back Burner, Dome and Six Paupers are all very nice!

The Harvest Market features a huge array of organic food shopping and newly opened Greg's Produce and Flowers is a welcome addition. The Perfect Cup Cafe is very busy at breakfast and lunch, they open early!
